The sculptures were worth the trip out from Broken Hill. The art work against the background of the desert was spectacular.
We decided to head home today and left at 8:30 am. it was a leisurely trip that to a long time due to several stops, including a good walk around Burra.
Next trip is to the Riverland in a couple of weeks, which should be a bit more interesting as we will be dog sitting Burt, the Suburban Terrier.

Broken Hill trials
The dog trials went well, but only one pass for the week-end. The club were very friendly and made us welcome. The dogs were prety good overall, but unfortunatly they did not have the luck that is needed to pass a trial. Too many distractions caused the dogs to loose concentration, and therefore the trial.
We had a look at the Stephens Creek reservoir, see pic. It is set up well with play equipment, bbq and picnic areas, and a great view. We will be going to look at the desert sculptures today.

Burra
We got as far as Burra on the way to Broken Hill for the dog trials. Late start means we did not get very far. The Bura caravan park was full when we got there, so the owner sent us to the showgrounds. Just pull up at a Stobie pole with a power box on it and there you are. A lady came round at 6:00 pm and collected $10, there was a single unisex shower, and the rest of the showgrounds was yours for the night. We had an early start next morning and pulled in to Terowie for fuel, and we find out the Mobil station has a caravan park.
Close to Broken Hill was an eagle feeding on road kill. He flew off to a pole when we approached, and I got this photo of him. We had to move on, because a road train was coming from behind, but the sight of this magnificent bird as he flew over the top of us was amazing.
The Lake View caravan park at Broken Hill has gone down the nick since we were last here. New owners we think. The grounds could do with a clean up and a bit of maintenance. The ensuite we had was grubby and it looked as though some one had been using it. The lock did not work properly and was open when we got there.
First Dog trial tonight.
